SOCHI, Russia (WHDH) - Before the Olympic games started in Sochi there was news that the Government was trying to eradicate stray dogs from the area, but one U.S. skier is trying to save a few of them.

Silver medal slopestyle skier Gus Kenworthy found a family of five living under a tent in the Olympic Village.

“It's been cool to have everyone show their support. I just posted the photos like wow look at these cute dogs, hope I can bring them home. Since then it's just been like alright im bringing home these dogs. I'm happy about it, but its crazy,” Kenworthy said.

Kenworthy said he has loved dogs his entire life and wanted to try and help the puppies in any way he could.
