Two bodies recovered from house fire in Concord

CONCORD, Mass. (WHDH) - Investigators said that two bodies have been recovered from a 3-alarm house fire in Concord that broke out early Friday morning.

The elderly couple had lived there for decades.

A snow plow driver spotted the flames at 35 Nancy Rd. and called 911 around 3 a.m.

When firefighters arrived on scene, the house was fully engulfed with smoke. Crews were unable to get inside to make rescues or check to see if anyone was home.

“We have good reason to believe that we may find a body in the building. So we do have reason to belief there were people in there when the fire started,” said Concord Fire Chief Mark Cotreau.

“It was huge. I never saw anything like it. It lit up the whole sky,” said neighbor David Goranson.

Neighbors said they did see the elderly couple home last night.

“The couple was pretty private. Neighbors originally that moved into this neighborhood when it was brand-knew, about the late 80's,” said Goranson.

Only the garage, one wall and the chimney were left standing. Firefighters said it is too early to determine a cause for the fire.
