Wet snow makes for heavy shoveling in Lowell

Posted: Updated:
LOWELL, Mass. (WHDH) - With Thursday’s winter storm ending around sunrise Friday some places are going to end up with a foot of snow.

Lowell had ten inches of snow as residents of the city went to bed, but freezing rain and sleet made it tough to clean up.

"It started off light and then as the day progressed and got a little colder and a little rainier it's gotten heavier and heavier,” one Lowell resident said.

Ice was the big concern for many people who were outside Thursday night.

“It's starting to glaze over and it's  starting to get icy out so it could be dangerous out,” one resident said.

With this storm hitting at the mid-point of February most people are just looking forward to spring.
