Patrols up in Arlington after teen assaulted

Posted: Updated:
ARLINGTON, Mass (WHDH) - Police released a sketch and stepped up patrols in Arlington with officers on the lookout for a man who indecently assaulted a teen earlier this week.

“We are actively investigating this, as we do all crimes in our community. You know, this of course though, a crime against a child, it hits close to home,” said Capt. Richard Flynn, Arlington Police Dept.

Investigators say the man in his early 20's is wanted for indecently assaulting a 14-year-old who was heading home from the high school Monday afternoon.

“It’s troubling. It's not something that I'd like, but I think that it's also something that might be a reality of, you know, the society in which we live,” said Jeremy Gregory, concerned parent.

The incident happened near the intersection of Summer Street and Cutter Hill Road.

Kids told 7News they're scared by what happened and school officials said it’s a good idea for students not to walk alone and for everyone to keep their eyes peeled.

So far there hasn’t been a break in this case.
