BOSTON (WHDH) -
Pairs champions Marissa Castelli and Simon Shnapir are the number one pairs team in the country known for their lifts, spins and tosses; but 7’s Nancy Chen started her lesson with the very basics.
“When in doubt, keep your feet nice together like that, that's called gliding. And keep these knees slightly bent,” Simon said.
No doubt feet are central to good skating, but hands are just as important in pairs.
“We have a special grip, where Marissa interlocks her thumb in between my pinkie and ring finger. That way, when she holds my hands, my hand won't go anywhere,” Simon said.
And it wouldn't be pairs skating without the lifts.
“He’s going to wrap his hands around your waist, now you're going to give him this leg,” Marissa said.
“And what you do is we spin,” said Simon.
And of course a performance isn’t complete without the big finish!
