Simon Shnapir and Marissa Castelli put up their best short program score at an international competition, and they thank their coach, Bobby Martin, for helping them.

Martin already helped the duo on their journey to the bronze scored by the United States in the team is skating competition, and Shnapir and Castelli are in the top ten in the pairs competition.

Martin was a member of the Boston Skating Club growing up along with his six siblings.

He’s been coaching the pairs for the past nine years and he’s no stranger to success as part of a pairs team.

Martin skated with none other than Nancy Kerrigan when he was 18 and she was about 15.

They met because bobby’s sister coached Kerrigan.

“So Nancy and I grew up together, we got along great. We had a great season or two. I decided to go to Boston College to play baseball at the time, she went on to bigger and better things, obviously. So it was great, I had a great experience with Nancy,” Martin said.

Bobby also skated with his wife professionally for a few years but now his main focus is on Simon and Marissa.
