Additionally, she’s won three gold medals at the IIHF World Championships, and has been named Goalie of the Year playing professional hockey for the Boston Blades, who she also won the championship of the Canadian Women’s Hockey League–the Clarkson Cup–with in 2013.

Things to know:
1. Won the William Jaffe Cup for sportsmanship and leadership in high school at Deerfield Academy (Massachusetts), whose notable alumni includes former U.S. Secretary of the Navy John Chafee and several generations of Rockefellers.
2. In the summer of 2011, she helped build a house in Honduras through Habitat for Humanity.
3. Growing up in Illinois, she was friendly with Cammi Granato, the captain of the 1998 gold medal-winning U.S. women’s Olympic team.
