Sochi Olympics 2014 Hometown Hero - Devin Logan

Posted: Updated:
Growing up as the kid sister to her freeskiing brothers, Devin Logan always wanted to be a part of the action. So it only seemed natural when she picked up halfpipe and slopestyle skiing. What wasn't natural, however, was her learning curve: at 15 she was on the U.S. Championships podium, finishing second in halfpipe skiing.

Then, in 2011, her first full competition season, the 17-year-old Vermont native made her Winter X Games debut in both halfpipe and slopestyle, collecting her first X Games medal with a halfpipe bronze at the European X Games. But Logan wasn't done there; she earned her first U.S. halfpipe skiing title and the overall AFP crown to cap her rookie season.

In 2012 Logan continued to make waves as one of the best women freeskiers with her arsenal of dynamic tricks. Her 12 podiums, which included two X Games medals, earned her another AFP Overall Championship title. After winning the season-opening New Zealand World Cup halfpipe in August 2012, the start to the Olympic qualifying period, Logan suffered a blown knee. Committed to rehab and her college education, she stayed busy. That included her becoming an AFP and FIS certified judge and judged some events while injured to have a better understanding of her sport.
