Bruins players wish luck to Simon Shnapir

SOCHI, Russia (WHDH) - When you compete in the Olympics winning a medal is the ultimate thrill and local pairs couple Simon Shnapir and Marissa Castelli did just that this weekend.

But Simon also got another once and a lifetime experience thanks to his favorite hockey team.

Simon is a huge Bruins fan, and 7News got some of the players, including Tuukka Rask and Patrice Bergeron, to wish him good luck.

“That's really, really cool. I'm a little speechless right now. That's amazing. Thank you for that. That's amazing. That feels really good to know that we have so many people supporting us all over, especially back home, most importantly,” Shnapir said.

He’s such a devoted Bruins fan he even kissed the ice during the national championships at TD Garden last month.

Even though many Bruins players aren’t playing for Team USA they’re still cheering for the local pair.

“We're all Bostonians. That's all that matters. I mean, I know some of them are Canadian and others are Finnish, but hey, we all have Boston in us, and that's what matters,” Shnapir said.
