It was a moment that scored gold before the Winter Games had even begun — the Russian police choir performed Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” before the Opening Ceremony. Their pre-show cover version made headlines across the globe and turned the unique choir into an Internet sensation.

But these guys are no strangers to the spotlight: The choir has been around since 1939, and has performed for such notables as Pope John Paul II. And there’s nothing new about popular tunes on their set list: They’ve sung everything from “Sex Bomb” to “Hava Nagila.”

The one who really got lucky was TODAY’s Meredith Vieira: She got an impromptu concert from the Russian police choir and got them to explain the lyrics to her.

“Do you know what the lyrics mean?” Meredith asked after reading the lyrics to them: “She’s up all night ’til the sun/ I’m up all night to get some/ She’s up all night for good fun/ I’m up all night to get lucky.”

“There are some slang moments. We know about them but we won’t say them.” The translator said.

And in all good fun, Meredith asked when was the last time they “got lucky.”

“Before Sochi because the general says it’s not allowed and that our luck is here in Sochi.”

The guys really let loose when they appeared on TODAY on Monday, showing off their other talent (dance moves) and posing for pics with athletes and TODAY talent.

The anchors really got into it. Al Roker even persuaded TODAY executive producer Don Nash to show off his moves.

After their opening ceremony performance and this one on TODAY, I’d say the Russian police choir should make sure their calendar is free, because everyone is going to want them for their next wedding or office party.
