Police looking for suspicious man in Lunenburg

Posted: Updated:
LUNENBURG, Mass. (WHDH) - Police are warning Lunenburg parents to keep their eyes open after they received reports of a suspicious man.

A homeowner told investigators that a man had stopped outside their home on West Street Sunday afternoon while their child was playing outside. The suspect stared for several seconds then waved to the child, who then ran into the home.

Local parents are alarmed about the news.

"When it was sunny out all the kids were out you can hear them playing kind of scary someone was watching them," said Cheryl Hooper.

Deana Botta, another parent in the neighborhood, recalled seeing a man fitting that description before, but in a different vehicle.

"He was in an older Jeep, heavier set man, longish hair, beard. Almost perfect match for description of person," Botta told 7News.

The man is described as being white and in his mid-40s. He has a beard, glasses and medium-length dark hair.

He was driving a medium sized silver station wagon or hatchback vehicle that was described as "quiet."

The descriptions of the suspect and the vehicle match those that were reported in Townsend and Leominster a few weeks ago.

If anybody has any information they are asked to contact Lunenburg Police at (978) 582-4531.
