Nancy Chen tries out luging at Lake Placid

Posted: Updated:
LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (WHDH) - 7News' Nancy Chen also had a chance to meet a lot of Olympians leading up to the big games, and got to go to Lake Placid where she tried out luging.

Face up, feet first and racing down an ice track at top speeds. Luging isn't for the faint of heart.

She learned from the best, Pittsfield born Chris Mazdzer, who is on the U.S. luge team. He competed all over the world and decided to give 7News' Nancy Chen a lesson at his home track in Lake Placid.

Mazdzer’s lesson involved seemingly simple tips. Lean into curves. Don't put your neck up and don't forget. Remain calm and focused.

What happened was a lot of back and forth as she slammed into one wall after another and another. Finally, 40 merciless seconds later it was over.

But she did it again, and according to Mazdzer, she made some progress.
