Nearly naked sculpture draws attention in Wellesley

Posted: Updated:
WELLESLEY, Mass. (WHDH) - Students at Wellesley College are getting to see something new on campus this week.

A sculpture of a nearly naked man on the front lawn has been garnering lots of attention.

The sculpture, called Sleepwalker, is a man in just his underwear with his eyes closed.

What makes the sculpture even more obvious is that it’s on campus at an all-women school.

“It totally freaked me out when I first saw it, I was like what?” one student said.

The sculpture has been on campus for a few days, and some students are still undecided about how they feel.

“If we can't put clothes on it then I would like it to be moved. I knew it was there when I saw it at night, and I still thought it was a real person,” one student said.

One student even started an online petition to remove the sculpture, calling it inappropriate and uncomfortable.

The museum director posted a response online saying 'art provokes dialogue.'

The online petition already has 400 signatures after just one day.
