BOSTON (WHDH) -
While many adults were upset by the snow and the shoveling that goes along with, kids took advantage of the day off.
Whether they were sledding throwing snowballs or building snowmen, they were having fun.
"We started building, so we took snow because we decided it was going to be too hard because the snow was too heavy, so we just broke it up and made [an igloo],” one boy said on the Boston Common.
Mayor Marty Walsh took some time during his day to go to the Mayor’s Hotline and thank the young volunteers who fielded 1,800 calls, nine times more than a normal day.
"When somebody takes time out of their day to call 4500, they're calling because they need something and I think the young people behind me think they can give back to someone by helping the situation they've been called on,” Walsh said.
