NATICK, Mass. (WHDH) -

The Metro West Daily News reported the DPW crew was repairing a water main break around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday night near the recycling department when the accident happened.

The backhoe they were using to make the repair tipped over and pinned two workers underneath this heavy piece of equipment. Other workers scrambled to get them free.

They finally got them out and performed CPR trying to revive them. One of the workers died and the other was transported to Beth Israel Hospital. He was stated to be in very critical condition.

Investigators and police are trying to figure out how the accident happened and what caused the backhoe to tip and fall on the two men.
