MSPCA Angell finds injured dog's owner

Posted: Updated:
MALDEN, Mass. (WHDH) - UPDATE: Feb. 3, 10 p.m.: MSPCA reports that the dog's owner has come forward to claim the dog whose real name is Bebe.

ORIGINAL STORY: Police and veterinarians in Malden are looking for the owner of a 2-year-old white Terrier mix they believe was hit by a car.

The dog, being called pirate for a shirt he was wearing, was found with a broken leg and taken to Angell Medical Center in Boston where his leg was fixed and put in a cast.

"From my experience, it usually takes some surgical intervention to fix those fractures, and because he's young and small they'll heal up just great,” MSPCA veterinarian tech Andrea Bessler said.

For now, Pirate is stuck at the shelter hoping someone comes to claim him.

"We really want to try to reach out because this dog was well taken cared for. I'm sure somebody's missing him and we'd like you to come forward and get the dog back safe,” Malden Animal Control officer Kevin Alkins said.

Anyone who recognizes pirate is asked to call MSPCA Angell in Boston at (617) 522-7400 to help return him to his owners.
