New messages released between Incognito and Martin

Posted: Updated:

DAVIE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Former Dolphins lineman Richie Incognito has been long-called the bully, but new messages seem to show that the situation between him and former teammate Jonathan Martin went both ways.

Forty pages of text messages from Incognito and Martin were released by a public relations firm, Thursday night. The text messages are from more then a year ago. Incognito and Martin talk about everything from drinking to women to prostitutes.

On Nov. 5, 2012, Martin texted: "Nah. I'm grossed out by prostitutes."

Incognito: "Haha! You (expletive)."

Incognito: "They're strippers who go the extra mile."

Incognito calls Martin derogatory names.

On Aug. 12, 2013, Incognito wrote: "That's the gayest (expletive) I've ever heard. You really are a (expletive)."

Both talk about going out to South Beach clubs.

On Aug. 31, 2013 Incognito texted: "The chick I hooked up with. Trying to get her to bring a friend. Grab food and drinks. Nothing crazy."

Incognito: "Y or N. Setting it up now. We can always ditch them."

Martin: "Nah. I'm tired bro I'm just gonna kick it."

Incognito: "Your an (expletive) (expletive) (expletive)"

Incognito: "(Expletive) you are no longer my road dog."

Those messages that seemed from two friends talking, quickly transformed into a national sports scandal.

Reports first surfaced that Martin left the team on Oct. 30, 2013. Two days later, there was a text message exchange between him and Incognito.

On, Nov. 11, 2013, Incognito texted: "How you doing buddy? Felling better??? I miss us."

Martin: "Wassup man. The worlds gone crazy lol. I'm good though congrats on the win."

Incognito: "Thanks dude its unbelievable all the attention this is getting. All that's important is that you feel better and know we miss you dude."

Martin: "Yeah I'm good man. It's insane bro but just know I don't blame you guys at all it's just the culture around football and the locker room got to me a little."

Later that day, Incognito sent Martin a screen grab of a news report to Martin. The title of the article: "NFL eyes Martin case."

Incognito: "What's up with this?"

Martin: "I got nothing to do with it man I haven't said anything to anyone."

The next day Incognito texted Martin: "I need you buddy I'm getting killed in the media."

There was no response from Martin.

Incognito then sent Martin another text the day after: "Bro can we talk? The Dolphins are talking about releasing me."

For the second time, there was no reply from Martin. It is unknown if the two exchanged any text after this.

In October, Martin left the team, accusing teammates, specifically Incognito, of bullying him.

Martin made his first on-camera comments to NBC earlier this week. "I am a grown man. I have been in locker rooms. There is vulgar language in locker rooms. One instance doesn't bother me. It's the persistence of it," Martin said.

Martin never returned to the team but remains on the roster. Incognito was suspended for the rest of the season.

A voicemail surfaced in which Incognito reportedly called Martin the "N" word and said, "I want to (expletive) in your (expletive) mouth. I'm going to slap your real mother across the face. (Expletive) you, you're still a rookie. I'll kill you."

Incognito made his first comments exclusively to 7News after the scandal broke. "You know, I am just trying to weather the storm right now. This will pass," Incognito said.

Later, in an interview with FOX Sports, Incognito said he and Martin were friends.

"This isn't an issue about bullying. This is an issue of my and Jon's relationship, where I have taken stuff too far. I did not intend to hurt him."

All of the messages have been turned over to New York attorney Ted Wells. His report on the Dolphins lockeroom culture is due out after the Super Bowl.

Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said recently he does not expect either player to come back to the team.

I mean, I wanna look good and feel good, but I don't wanna give up taste. I just found a healthy new joint that's both delicious and has me seriously considering becoming a vegan.[more]
