Fitchburg teacher's aide returns to classroom

Posted: Updated:
FITCHBURG, Mass. (WHDH) - A teacher's aide at the South Street Elementary School in Fitchburg, who created controversy and was placed on administrative leave over modeling pictures, returned to the classroom Tuesday.

Twenty-three-year-old Kaitlin Pearson was placed on paid administrative leave because of her second job where she moonlighted as a model.

When the superintendent received a packet of pictures in the mail, he placed her on paid leave from the school where she has worked since November.

Pictures touched off plenty of debate about whether or not Pearson's job was appropriate, and the pictures were too racy. Pearson was however, reinstated late Tuesday afternoon.

Parents at the school said they have no problem with the superintendent's decision.

“I really think we're making a big deal out of nothing. You know. It's a second job. Everybody needs some now and then. As long as she is not bringing it to school I don't see the issue,” said one mother.

“If she’s doing her job good and she's not bringing her second job into the school, I don't have a problem with it,” another mother said.

Parents said they want to put the incident behind them and focus on the kids learning at the school.
