Or…did the cold ever really leave? We had about 6-8 hours of mild weather yesterday before the latest block of arctic air arrived sending our temps back into the teens this morning with wind chills near zero! At least we’re gaining daylight.

The next two days are like several other days this winter…..windy, cold, with a fair amount of sunshine. Temps this afternoon finish near 20 but those wind chills stay in the single numbers. Tomorrow afternoon our high temps reach the low to mid 20s–milder but still well below our normal high of 36.

This arctic air is so cold that it has shoved the storm track all the way down into Carolina today where those folks are preparing for a major snowstorm (coastal North Carolina will pick up 6-8″ of snow later today). That storm will then move off of the North Carolina coast passing south of new England late tonight. Too far away to bother metro Boston but I think cities/towns on the Cape/Islands will get a glancing blow of snow from this storm. Right now, it looks like a coating to 2″ of snow will fall on the Cape/Islands by early tomorrow morning. The rest of us just see developing sunshine after some morning clouds.

As for the cold, it will ease by Thursday and beyond with daytime temps back to normal—mid & upper 30s. our next storm looks like a weak one on Saturday afternoon with a mix of light rain & light snow.

Stay warm!
