Police make second arrest in Dorchester USPS kidnapping

Posted: Updated:
A second person was arrested Monday in connection to the kidnapping and assault of a postal carrier in December.

Police believe 21-year-old Keyon Taylor worked with 23-year-old Maurice William Minor-Gettens were trying to robe the victim of Christmas packages.

During a scuffle one of the suspects put a gun to the postal carrier’s head and even shot him in the wrist.

The USPS worker was forced to take off his uniform and surrender his phone. He eventually escaped by jumping out of the back of the truck.

Residents of the neighborhood say the crime feels out of place in their neighborhood, but are glad police were able to capture the men they believe are responsible.

"A timely capture of criminals is essential because it send a message that hey our neighborhood does not want this activity and number two you will get caught,” Jean Leow said.

Both men appeared in federal court Monday charged with kidnapping and assault and battery of a federal employee.
