Highs soared across the Commonwealth as a warm front moved through this morning. In fact, temperatures underwent a sudden jolt to the 40s with a mere shift in the wind direction early this morning.
Norwood went from 29 to 42.
Bedford went from 22 to 39
and Boston went from 31 to 38. OK, our spike wasn’t as dramatic, but with it was a good kick start on our way to 47 this afternoon.
Then with a passage of a swift arctic front, it was gone. Now the bitter air settles in…again. But this one is not as potent, long-lasting, or mired in bitter wind chills as the last two shots. Instead, it seems the weather pattern will bounce this bitter air out of here after midweek, with another extended thaw in the works by the end of the week and the weekend.
Follow the blue and green in the jet stream. Here it’s in the Great Lakes and Northeast:
Here it’s smaller and favoring the Upper Plains:
The change in sensible weather will be even more dramatic. It could send us well into the 40s by week’s end!
Hang in there, it’s not long to the Solar Spring (starts Feb. 1st….longer days, warmer average temps)
