Two men attempt abduction of teen girl in Worcester

Posted: Updated:

A young girl waiting for a school bus said she was almost attacked by a dog after she wouldn't get in a van with two strange men.

Worcester police seized a white van that matched the description and questioned the owner, a young woman. She was cleared of any connection shortly after, 7News' Victoria Warren reports.

Worcester police said it happened just before 7 a.m. Police said the 14-year-old girl was waiting at a bus stop when a white van pulled up. The girl told police there were two men inside and they kept trying to get her to get in the van. She told police she was scared.

The men showed her a large dog inside the van and said if she didn't come with them they were going to let the dog out to chase her down.

“She played it right. As soon as she saw the two and what they wanted her to do she ran. Ran to her friends and contacted her mother right away,” said Worcester Police Sgt. Kerry Hazelhurst.

The mother called police and they searched the entire neighborhood but didn't find anything. Worcester police promised extra patrols, especially when the kids are going to or from school.

“It is scary, because I'm young too, it could happen to anyone. I definitely think people should be careful,” said a concerned female resident.

Two weeks ago two girls were chased by a suspect but police said at this point there is no evidence linking the two incidents. The suspect descriptions in each case were very different.
