Couple in Mattapan dead after double shooting

Posted: Updated:
MATTAPAN, Mass. (WHDH) - A young man and woman were fatally shot in Mattapan early Monday morning. Both victims, according to family members were dating, and in their late 20s.

The shooting happened around 2:45 a.m. on Rosewood Street. Police said the victims were getting out of their car in the driveway when they were shot multiple times by at least one suspect.

The shooter was not seen fleeing the area. Police are still searching for evidence. Supt. Chief William Gross of the Boston Police Dept. is asking any witnesses to come forward.

The shooting came just several hours after a fatal shooting in Dorchester. Boston police are investigating and believe the two incidents are linked.

"Our goal this year is to reduce the violence but everyone has to do their part, work collaboratively together and reach those individuals who are causing the quality of life to decline in our city," said Gross.

If you have any information, you are asked to contact Crime Stoppers Hotline at: 1-800-494-TIPS. You can remain anonymous.
