The fire was ripping through the basement and the first floor on arrival. Inspectors stated that the fire started in the basement, but there is no official cause at this time.

The woman was treated and transported by Boston EMS, but was confirmed as a fatality by the Boston Fire Department.

An adult male was unaccounted for early on but turned up outside okay.

The fire chief estimated the damage at $150,000.

As is standard procedure, there will be a joint investigation by Boston Fire, Boston Police and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office.
