It’s a milder, but hold onto your hat, type of day to start the weekend as highs reach the middle to upper 30s. A southwest wind gusts 30-40mph for most, and even 40-50mph across coastal SE Mass. That’s where we have a wind advisory in place.
While we have plenty of dry hours through the day, occasionally, we’ll have some flakes to track around here. Spotty flurries/light snow are with us this morning, then another round of snow showers late-day/early evening. The snow showers and squalls early this evening have more of a punch with them, dropping locally up to 1″ of snow. When it comes to snow squalls, it’s kind of like summer-time thunderstorms in terms of being hit or miss, so not all towns get one. Those early evening snow showers and squalls are along another arctic front. While temps may start above freezing initially with these flakes early this evening, they fall below freezing fast and that means any wet roads could see icy spots develop. Watch for a few slick spots today, especially if you get a quick coating of snow.
We’re back into the freezer tonight with lows falling back to the single digits and lower teens by Sunday morning. Highs Sunday top off a couple degrees either side of 20. The colder side in Worcester, the warmer side in Boston. Wind chill factors hold near 0.
A bit more light snow/snow showers work in late Sunday night/early Monday with a warm front, then another snow shower late-day Monday with another arctic front.
Overall, no major storms are in the 7day forecast, but the cold air hangs on tough, not only here, but through much of the eastern 2/3rds of the country.
