Florida teen recovering after parasailing crash

Posted: Updated:
17-year-old Alexis Fairchild is getting there a step at a time. Doctors feared she would never walk again, after she and a friend nearly died on vacation in Florida.

They went tandem parasailing off Panama City six months ago and the tow rope snapped.

Winds slammed them into a 13-story building, then power lines, before falling to the ground and smashing into a parked car.

"I remember a lot. All of it actually. To a point where I blacked out, but I don’t know,” Alexis said.

Alexis' parents rarely laugh. They say it's only after the fact they learned parasailing is unregulated in Florida.

The parasail company aquatic adventures said "it is our policy not to comment while there is outstanding litigation."
