WELLESLEY, Mass. (WHDH) -- -
Emergency crews in Wellesley spent several hours Wednesday searching for seven dogs that escaped after the van they were in crashed.
It all started at the corner of Juniper and Brook Street when the van crashed and the dogs took off in all different directions.
"When the owner got out of the vehicle all seven dogs in the vehicle also jumped out,” Wellesley Police officer Tim Gover said.
Alyssa Porter-Goodwin found out her dog was part of the wreck when she drove by the scene of the crash and saw the van.
"I came across it on the top of a tow truck and obviously it had been in an accident. I pulled over and said ‘oh my gosh my dog was in there,’" she said.
Luckily Ellie was found some three miles away in Needham.
Officers say one small white dog dodged them longer than the others.
"As I was driving down one of the streets I noticed a drag mark. That dog did have his leash still on. All I saw in the corner stuck in some bushes was patches. He was a little bloody, cold, snow covered,” Gover said.
All the dogs are expected to be ok.
