Regina Sanchez couldn’t believe what she saw when she looked at the surveillance video of a woman stealing her tablet.
“When we uncovered it was this grandmother type, I was like, what are you thinking,” Sanchez said.
The video shows three people eating lunch together back in September when the tablet was stolen, a woman and an older couple. The younger woman points out the $500 tablet sitting on the windowsill in a Vera Bradley case and a short time later the older woman grabs it and puts it in her bag.
Police released the surveillance video Wednesday and within a few hours of the time it aired on 7News the tablet had been turned in to Burlington Police.
Sanchez said she never expected to see the tablet again.
“I was like shocked, I kind of had to do a dance when I hung up the phone to be honest,” she said.
The daughter of the woman who had stolen the tablet turned it in to detectives.
Police say Jessie O'Shea in the white is 70-years-old and her daughter, Kelly Dartona, is nearly 50.
“It’s just really sad that two grown woman, a mother and a daughter, would think this was an OK thing to do," Sanchez said.
O'Shea and Dartona are expected to be summonsed to court where they will face larceny charges.
