Fitchburg teacher's aide on leave after photos surface

Kaitlin Pearson, a teacher’s aide at the South Street Elementary School in Fitchburg,  has been put on administrative leave after administrators received copies of her racy modeling photos.

The school's superintendent , Andre Ravenelle, received the photos from an anonymous tip.

Ravenelle released a statement on Wednesday stating, “This situation poses no threat to the student body and is this time solely a personnel issue.”

The teacher's old sister turned to Facebook on Thursday to show her support:

"I support you 100%! Haters only hate people they can't have or the people they can't be. You rock lil sis!"


Some people think that the Pearson's behavior is not appropriate.

“I think it’s kind of inappropriate for a teacher, who’s supposed to be a role model and set an example for kids,” said Mara Kelly, parent.

“They're held to higher standard they're teachers. There’s certain jobs like that, teachers can't post stuff on Facebook or social media because they have a higher standard they need to live up to,” Kenneth Cutting said.

Other parents don’t seem to mind Pearson working as a model as long as she can do her job as a teacher.

“If she can do her job and fulfill the needs of the kids I think it should be irrelevant what she does after hours,” Tom Lecourse said.

The school conducted a criminal background search when Pearson was hired, but did not search social media. Where the photos would have been found.

Moving forward, the superintendent said that the district will be checking social media and Google during the hiring process.
