WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WHDH) – -
A Rhode Island boy and his father were reunited after he was taken by his mother to Seattle, causing officials to release an Amber Alert.
Sean Britt held his son in his arms once again this weekend after a nationwide search.
Daniel Britt, 6, disappeared with his mother Andrea back on Jan. 8. Britt said he had only just been given joint custody of the boy when the mother took their son after a scheduled visit.
It took officials two weeks to issue an Amber Alert, after a judge ordered Andrea’s medical records and documents from the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families be unsealed. It was determined then that she and the boy were in danger.
“I felt helpless. Two weeks of just the worst possible things going through my head. Will I see my son again? Where is he?” the father told reporters.
The two were found safe in Washington State Thursday night.
“He is safe. He is fine. That's all that matters,” said Britt.
