One suspected bank robber shot, another arrested in Arlington
ARLINGTON, Mass (WHDH) -
Police in Arlington shot one suspect and arrested another Friday afternoon after an attempted bank robbery in Arlington.
The suspects attempted to rob the Leader Bank on Mass Avenue in East Arlington before fleeing in a vehicle.
“There were some very good witnesses that gave a vehicle description. Arlington police officers spotted the suspect vehicle, engaged that car in a very suit pursuit where they were able to get it stopped her on Brooks ave. here in Arlington,” Arlington Police Chief Frederick Ryan said.
Sky7HD was live about the scene when police closed in on the vehicle.
Witnesses say they heard several gunshots.
“I heard four loud gunshots and I came running out. I saw a person unresponsive lying in the road. Then a second later I saw ten police cars and tell everyone to get out,” Donia Goff said.
One suspect was shot and is in serious condition. A second suspect is in custody.
An officer was also taken to the hospital for stress related injuries.
Police have recovered a gun they say belonged to the suspect who was shot and are still investigating.
The suspect who was shot was in serious condition Friday evening.
