A man's age could affect his chances for having a child with autism.
A new study from Iceland said for each decade a man ages, his chance of fathering a child with autism increases by 22-percent.
Researchers say as men age, their sperm cells genetically mutate, increasing that risk.
"It helps us understand the complex causes that are likely behind autism and other related developmental disorders,” said Dr. Zachary Warren, Vanderbilt Triad Director.
Being an older mother also increases the risk for autism.
Family history and premature birth can also be factors.
