New blood test and the benefits of e-readers

Posted: Updated:

A new blood test can distinguish between viral and bacterial infections.

Duke university researchers say the test detects certain genes the immune system produces when fighting off a virus.

They say the test study was 90-percent accurate. Experts believe this test could help patients get faster diagnosis and avoid having to take antibiotics that don't work on viral infections.

E-readers may be more helpful for people with dyslexia.

A study found dyslexic high school students read faster and comprehend more, when using e-readers compared to traditional books.

Researchers say the e-reader displays short lines with fewer words allowing readers to focus on individuals words without distraction.
