WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — The town of Barre's former tax collector has been indicted on charges that she stole more than $300,000 of the town's money.

Marcia Langelier is scheduled to be arraigned next Thursday in Worcester Superior Court on charges of larceny over $250 by a common scheme; embezzlement by a city, town or county officer; and making false entries in corporate books.

The Worcester district attorney's office says the 61-year-old Langelier stole the money between January 1, 2005 and July 31, 2011 while acting as the elected tax collector for the town of Barre.

A listed phone number for Langelier was out of service.

Barre has about 5,400 residents and is about 60 miles west of Boston.
