Dozens of people gathered to search for answers in the case of a missing five-year-old Fitchburg boy on Saturday.
Jose Oliver, the boy’s father, said that the nearly hundred people who volunteered looked everywhere. The search started early Saturday morning.
“I can’t believe that I’m out here searching for my son. I shouldn’t have to be out here,” said Oliver to reporters.
No word yet if volunteers have found anything related to the missing child.
It’s not known specifically what searchers were exactly looking for. Rather, the community seems to be looking for any signs or clues to the boy’s whereabouts.
People lit candles and created memorials for Jeremiah Oliver, who was last seen in September. He was reported missing two weeks ago.
Oliver is reaching out to law enforcement to talk to the boy’s mother, who is behind bars. Elsa Oliver is charged with reckless endangerment of a child after an arraignment Tuesday afternoon. She is being held without bail.
State leaders are pressing the Department of Children and Families for an apparent failure to keep tabs on the boy. Two workers have already been fired in connection with the case.
