TRURO, Mass. (AP) — A man bitten by a great white shark last month off a Cape Cod beach has returned. But he didn't go in the water.

The Cape Cod Times reports that Christopher Myers, whose legs were injured in the July 30 attack, was greeted by several people who recognized him at Ballston Beach in Truro on Wednesday.

Myers, a Boston-area native who lives in Denver, has been visiting relatives before returning home at the end of the month. He chatted with well-wishers, retold his story and had his picture taken.

Myers still has a cast on one leg. He told the newspaper he's writing about the attack and wanted to refresh his memory. He said he was excited to be back at his favorite beach, but felt "a little pit in my stomach."
