SANDWICH, Mass. (AP) — Police in Sandwich say they are investigating allegations of a sex crime that might have occurred this summer at a YMCA camp for children.

Police Chief Peter Wack says the investigation that started within the past week is in the "very early stages" and he could not provide details.

Stacie Peugh, president and chief executive officer of YMCA Cape Cod, the nonprofit organization that runs Camp Lyndon, tells the Cape Cod Times the alleged incident involved minors and occurred at the camp this summer.

She says no employees are facing accusations.

She says as soon as Y officials were alerted, the proper authorities were notified and the Y is cooperating fully.

The day camp offers horseback riding, swimming, boating and other outdoor activities.
