BARNSTABLE, Mass. (AP) — Police have arrested a Weymouth man they say sold the synthetic drug bath salts from the Hyannis convenience store where he worked.
Muhammad Abid was charged Monday with possession of a class C substance with intent to distribute. The 34-year-old Abid is scheduled for arraignment Tuesday.
Police tell the Cape Cod Times they have been investigating bath salts sales by an employee at the Corner Food Mart for several months.
They say Abid sold baths salts to undercover officers. A search of the store turned up several glass vials of the drug and money used in the investigation in the cash register.
It was not clear if Abid had a lawyer and store management did not return calls for comment.
Bath suits can cause seizures, hallucinations and violent behavior.
