BOURNE, Mass. (WHDH) — Green Beret Matthew Pucino died when during an I.E.D. attack in Afghanistan in 2009, but recently someone decided to create a Facebook with his pictures and information.

Pucino’s family is upset about the phony account saying they don’t understand why someone would create it.

"We’ve just passed the fourth anniversary date of his death and it’s Christmas time. For someone to steal his identity you know who he is, you know what you’re stealing,” Lisa Haglof, Pucino’s sister, said.

Two bridges in the Sagamore section of Bourne are named for him, and the local post office was rededicated in his honor.

“Matthew was a man among men. Probably would make most of us feel insignificant. To do it with anybody is one thing, to do it to a guy like Matthew or any fallen hero like that is just a whole new level of disgusting,” Phil Haglof, Pucino’s brother in law, said.

The photos for the Facebook page were taken from the Matthew Pucino Foundation website. The foundation raises about $20,000 a year to help wounded warriors.

“I was so angry, I can’t even describe in words how angry I am that someone would do this to Matthew,” his sister said.

The page was taken down after three days, but it reportedly takes longer for Facebook to take down other pages.
