HARWICH, Mass. (AP) — Harwich police are investigating the death of an infant who was taken to the hospital after he stopped breathing over the weekend.

Officers responding to 911 calls found the infant not breathing at a home in town at about 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

The first officer on the scene found the boy and his mother outside.

Harwich fire officials took the child to Cape Cod Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O'Keefe tells the Cape Cod Times that all unattended deaths are investigated and would not speculate on whether there are suspicious circumstances around the child's death.
