BOSTON (WHDH) — A new report says Boston Marathon bombing suspect, Tamerlan Tsarnaev was mentally ill, and that his parents did nothing about it.

According to The Boston Globe Tsarnaev said he heard voices in his head and doctors feared he might be schizophrenic.

After arriving in the U.S. both his parents regularly saw a psychiatrist, but failed to recognize their son's condition.

Tamerlan was killed in a shoot-out with police, in Watertown in the days following the attack on the marathon.

His brother, Dzokhar Tsarnaev remains behind bars.
