Class Act: Nick Minichiello & Andrew Lindquist

Posted: Updated:
Meet two very cool seniors at Woburn High School who go above and beyond for their community.

Nick Minichiello and Andrew Lindquist, seniors at Woburn Memorial High School, are awesome.

They started the Club of Social Concern - a group whose focus is to help the community.

“I realized there are people struggling in my own town, that could really use some help,” said Lindquist.

“We'll do pretty much anything to help the community,” said Minichiello.

“We've started doing as much as we can; at this point we're asking for more work,” said Minichiello.

Their club is now in its second year and has about 60 members.

They do any and all community service, everything from raising money at telethons, to building parade floats.

“I find it easier than paid work, to do, because there a distinct purpose for it, you are trying to help people who need your help, when you are needed like that it’s very easy to do the work,” said Lindquist.

Their latest project is proudly on display in the high school hallway a giant food fortress.

Minichiello and Lingquist launched a can food drive at all of Woburn's public schools and have collected over 4,000 cans.

Those cans will go to help stock-pile the town's food pantry and feed hundreds of families this holiday season.

“We'll see the shelves in the food party filled, it's just a great feeling,” said Minichiello.

“We know what we're doing is going to be feeding hungry people,” said Lingquist.

While both teens excel in their school work they say the work they do in the community gives them the most satisfaction.

“You are working toward a goal of making someone else's life better, what could be better motivation?” said Lindquist.

“When you do community service, you can see how you are improving other people's lives, and that’s really great,” said Minichiello.

Both young men said they will definitely continue their community service in college.

If there isn't a club at their new schools, they said they'll start one!
