Pats had good record despite player injuries

Posted: Updated:
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WHDH) -- - The Patriots got the outcome they wanted this season, but it didn’t come easy.

The team saw player after player land on injured reserve.

In December, fans lost favorite Rob Gronkowski, who is out for the rest of the season with a torn ACL and MCL.

In November, defensive tackle Tommy Kelly was placed on injured reserve because of a right knee injury.

Bill Belichick says nobody's tougher than Logan Mankins, who developed his thick skin on his family's ranch long before his days on the Patriots.

Mankins missed only one series after hurting his left ankle Dec. 29 in a 34-20 victory over the Buffalo Bills.

"I learned that kind of stuff from my dad and the kind of guys that he worked with. They're all tough guys and they always took pride in never missing days of work and always being there, no matter what the circumstances were,” Mankins said.

Through it all, the Pats are still going to give it all Saturday night in the playoff game against the Colts.

"I think that's what's going to be good about this game. We have two teams that…when you talk about mental toughness, are kind of wired the same way. You know we're going to keep playing all the way to the end of the game and I think we're going to get the same thing from them,” said Devin McCourty.
