'Tomorrow People' casts Peyton List as female lead

Posted: Updated:

The CW's "Tomorrow People," from Julie Plec and Greg Berlanti, has cast its first lead role. Peyton List, best known for her work on "Mad Men" as Jane Sterling, will play the telepathic Cara.

Cara has the ability to read minds and transmit her own thoughts to other people, a function of her higher stage of evolution and the power that makes her one of the titular Tomorrow People. She has a sense of humor and is, seemingly, a trustworthy ally -- and she has an immediate spark with Stephen, the series lead who is about to discover some hidden talents of his own.

CW fans may remember List as Lois Lane's sister, Lucy, from "Smallville." She's not to be confused with the other Peyton List, who stars on The Disney Channel's "Jessie." Deadline was first to report the casting.
