Santorum campaign revived

Posted: Updated:

This is shaping up as a night to remember for Rick Santorum; a night to forget for Mitt Romney...and, for Newt Gingrich, it may be time to go gently into the night.

Rick Santorum's campaign is officially revived. He was denied momentum when he was declared the winner in Iowa too late for it to make a difference, but that won't happen now. His victory, or victories, tonight help establish him as the conservative alternative to Mitt Romney, and that's just what Newt Gingrich used to be.

Newt won absolutely nothing tonight, and wasn't even on the ballot in Missouri. More and more, Gingrich's candidacy looks like less and less. Surely he hears all the calls for him to give it up...and I’d say now it's time for him to listen up.

Then there's Romney: still the front runner, but still taking on water from attacks by his opponents, and from his own mistakes. I'm still not certain how concerned he is about the very poor, but I am sure he should be very concerned about the direction of his popularity, which is down.

Attention, republicans! You keep saying what's most important to you is having a candidate who can beat Barack Obama, but what you keep doing is making it harder for you to find one.

Face facts: none of your candidates is perfect, but neither is the president.

So make a choice: focus your attacks on Obama, or start thinking about how you can win back the white house...in 2016.
