No surprise. The two front runners did their best to make each other look their worst:
"While I was fighting to save the Olympics, you were fighting to save the bridge to nowhere,” Romney said to Santorum.
"Governor Romney raised $700 million in taxes and fees in Massachusetts. I never voted to raise taxes," Santorum said.
The Arizona face-off also marked the return of Newt Gingrich as a very clever debater: he was a statesman:
"I think this is a very sober period and I believe this is the most dangerous president on national security grounds in American history."
And he also showed his sly side when he was asked which word best describes him:
"Cheerful."
We're now at another if/then phase of the campaign, as in, "if Romney loses Michigan next week, then he's done."
Don't waste your time wondering.
If you look back at this Republican race, then the lesson is, "if you make a prediction, then it's probably wrong."
