BOSTON (WHDH) — Russian president Vladimir Putin and Patriots owner Robert Kraft go another round over a prized ring.
The hotly debated exchange happened eight years ago when Kraft visited Russia, where his Super Bowl ring changed hands with Putin.
Take another look, Kraft takes it off, Putin puts it on.
Kraft has three Super Bowl rings but would he really give one away? Putin's spokesperson thinks so.
"I was standing 20 centimeters away from him and Mr. Putin and saw and heard how Mr. Kraft gave this ring as a gift," said Dmitry Peskov, Putin’s spokesman.
Earlier this week, Kraft told a different story. He says he was only showing Putin the $25,000 ring when the president pocketed it.
After all these years, why bring it up? The Patriots spokesperson says, "It's a humorous, anecdotal story that Robert re-tells for laughs.”
