Julien: Confident Bergeron will play in Game 6

Posted: Updated:

BOSTON (WHDH) -- It’s the question everyone is asking -- will Patrice Bergeron play in Game 6?

“I have no idea -- we’re in the dark as much as you are, so it’s probably easier that way,” said Andrew Ference.

Even Ference is looking for answers if the Bruins center will take the ice Monday night in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup finals.

The Bruins best all-around player missed Monday’s morning skate, but his coach is confident Bergeron will be there for puck drop.

“Patrice will dress for warm up tonight and I’m feeling confident that he’ll play,” said Bruins coach Claude Julien.

Bergeron’s teammates shared in that confidence, knowing how much he brings to the table.

“Obviously you can’t fill Bergy’s shoes, but we gotta step up somehow in different ways, and if he’s in, I mean -- again, it wouldn’t surprise me. He’s definitely a hard-working guy and if he’s leaving a game, something’s wrong, but hopefully he’ll be ready for tonight,” said Bruins forward Tyler Seguin.

Chicago’s Jonathan Toews is ready -- the Blackhawks captain sat out the third period of Game 5.

“The way I felt out there today was the best morning skate I’ve had all series and I feel great. I’m excited and there’s no questions where I am physically,” said Toews.

The Bruins are hoping for the same with Bergeron.

“He’s an important part of our team. He’s been probably our best player this series, so he’s gonna do whatever it takes for him to be in the lineup. And I’m sure he’s gonna bring his best if he is,” said Bruins forward Milan Lucic.

“I’m talking, thinking like he’s gonna be in the lineup, and it’s not gonna surprise me if he is, so everyone needs to come together, do their own jobs, and help each other out,” said Seguin.

The Bruins host the Blackhawks Monday night. The Blackhawks lead the series, 3-2.
