Soft ice causing trouble for Bruins

Posted: Updated:

BOSTON (WHDH) -- Soft ice caused issues during Bruins practice Monday morning.

Players have complained about the ice before and now that it’s getting hotter out, it’s becoming more of an issue. In Game 3 Zdeno Chara and Milan Lucic collided into each other because of the soft ice. Chara had to get stitches above his left eye.

Fog rose up from the ice at practice in the morning, posing potential problems for Game 6 Monday night. But the players said they don’t seem to mind.

“I don’t think the ice works in anyone’s favor when it gets bad…it’s not bad. We’ll skate around it if it gets bad,” said Bruins forward, Chris Kelly.

Bruins defenseman Torey Krug said the weather isn’t going to affect how the teams play in Game 6.

“It’s supposed to get pretty hot this afternoon so I’m sure it’s going to get rough but both teams are going to be on the same ice surface and we just gotta make sure we take care of the puck,” said Krug.

The last time the Stanley Cup Final took place on June 24 or later was in 1995.

Game 6 will be held Monday night at the TD Garden. Puck drop will be at eight o’clock.
