BOSTON (WHDH) — Every sports fan has superstitions and Bruins fans are no exception, especially with the B’s facing elimination going into Game 6.

“I don’t eat before the game. I eat after the game,” said Bruins fan, Ash Dewan.

Fasting, certain clothing items, even a lack of general hygiene are all ways that people prepare for a Bruins game, especially when the Cup is on the line.

“You gotta wear the same outfit that you wore last time that they won,” said one fan. But you can’t wash it in between games. “Sorry, it’s a hot day, I apologize, those are the rules,” she said.

A younger fan has a more traditional route.

“I brought my lucky socks that I wear to Bruins games but it’s too hot today so I put them in a bag. We’ll get them out before game time,” said B’s fan Jillian Whalen.

And it doesn’t get more superstitious than wearing an authentic jersey on game day.

“It all starts with wearing this jersey here. Every game that I end up going to, wearing this jersey. It’s working for me so far. [I’m] going to keep on doing it even in this hot heat,” said fan, Tyler Gouveia.

And of course, Rene Rancourt has to be there before the game.

“Warming up about three days ahead of time and a lot of situps…no just kidding,” said Rancourt.

Ed Howard told 7News with a straight face how he gets ready for every big Bruins game.

“Yeah, I usually go for a long jog and eat nothing but steel-cut oatmeal,” he said. “It’s been working so far, worked in 2011. The jogs were a little longer back then, but the steel-cut oatmeal, I still make sure to eat that every morning.”

The puck will drop on Game 6 Monday night at the TD Garden at eight o’clock.
